What We Believe
God: God, who is one, is revealed in three distinct persons.
Jesus: We believe in the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ. God became human in Jesus whose life, death, and resurrection demonstrate God’s redeeming love.
Human Beings: With all Christians, United Methodists believe that all people are made in the image of the Creator. Genesis 1:27 asserts that we’ve been made in the image of the Creator. Like God, we are spirits, but we live in a physical body. We have the capacity to love and care, to communicate, and to create.
The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is God’s present activity in our midst. When we sense God’s leading, God’s challenge, or God’s support or comfort, it’s the Holy Spirit at work.
The Church: The church is the body of Christ, an extension of Christ’s life and ministry in the world today.
The Bible: We believe that the Bible is the primary authority for our faith and practice.
Service: In trying to show the mercy of Christ we believe we need to reach out to others both with the good news of a fulfilling life through Christ, and with practical help like food, shelter, clothing and assistance of different kinds.
Faith comes alive through service. Together we support our neighbors through community outreach, fellowship, and ministries such as the Carlin Cupboard Food Pantry, Christmas Boxes for children, and Hygiene packets for the homeless.
Both churches are served by the Rev. Judith Donaldson
Meet the Pastor. The Rev. Judith Donaldson serves the congregations of Carlin United Methodist Church and Elko United Methodist Fellowship. Judith is passionate about helping people grow in faith, building strong community connections, and serving neighbors through ministries of compassion and outreach. She enjoys preaching, writing, and helping people discover God's presence in their daily lives. Her ministry is rooted in grace, community, and the belief that there is a place for everyone in God's family.
